The beauty in the wind
Big poetic expressions should be used in order to really
describe the Middelgrunden offshore wind farm.
Even though the Danish wind industry has grown up since
long time, we can still be breath taken by the beauty of these
modern wind power plants.
Of course photography makes it possible to manipulate images
to achieve the desired effect but wind turbines do look beautiful
by themselves as they draw the power out of the wind.
It is my hope that this book will show that wind turbines
exceed traditional power plants both visually and environmentally.
In planning the future big offshore wind power plants Middelgrunden
should be used as an example especially with regard to the
layout of the turbines. In that way we will have beautiful
wind power plants in the future.
It has been a big challenge to follow the construction work
throughout one year. Once the building site moved offshore,
away from the dry dock, it was not possible anymore to pass
by for a few hours when the sun was good. All offshore work
takes much time and therefore I owe great thanks to the crews
of Skagerak and Heimdal for the visits to their nice hot cabins
and while they serviced the work.
Also thanks to Michael and Nigel for Celtic entertainment,
to Loke Film for use of rubber boat.
Most of all thanks to Hans Chr. Sørensen who still believed
in this book when everything else failed.
